A former South Carolina Gamecocks women’ basketball standout is already facing an uphill battle at the next level, as she was among the early roster cuts during WNBA training camp.

With teams trimming rosters ahead of the regular season, several fringe players were waived in the first round of cuts, including the ex-Gamecock who had been working to secure a spot. Despite a strong college résumé under head coach Dawn Staley, the transition to the professional level proved challenging in a highly competitive camp environment.

WNBA teams are limited in roster size, making early cuts a common but difficult reality for young players trying to break into the league. Still, this setback doesn’t necessarily mark the end of the road. Many players who are waived during camp often find opportunities overseas or earn another shot in future seasons.

For the former South Carolina star, the focus now shifts to staying ready and continuing development, with hopes of eventually carving out a place in the league.
