Five-star recruit Oliviyah Edwards has given Dawn Staley and South Carolina a significant boost on the recruiting trail, but it still wasn’t enough to land the Gamecocks at the top of the latest national rankings.
Edwards, one of the most sought-after prospects in her class, brings elite athleticism, versatility, and scoring ability to Columbia. Her commitment strengthens an already impressive recruiting haul for South Carolina, reinforcing Staley’s reputation as one of the top recruiters in women’s college basketball.
Despite the addition, the Gamecocks fell just short of the No. 1 overall recruiting class, with another powerhouse program narrowly edging them out. Still, South Carolina remains firmly in the national title conversation, with a class built on depth, talent, and long-term upside.
With Edwards now in the fold, the Gamecocks have added another cornerstone piece—one that could make an immediate impact and help keep the program among the elite for years to come.
