Short article:

Florida head coach Jon Sumrall is staying aggressive on the recruiting trail, continuing to pursue five-star defensive lineman Jalen Brewster despite his commitment to Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Brewster, widely regarded as the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2027 class, has been committed to Texas Tech since October 2025. However, that hasn’t stopped Sumrall and the Florida Gators from making a strong late push.

Florida’s staff has remained persistent, making visits and building a relationship with the elite recruit in hopes of flipping his commitment. The Gators have even hosted Brewster on multiple occasions, signaling how serious they are about landing him.

This pursuit reflects a broader shift under Sumrall, whose energy and recruiting intensity have quickly elevated Florida’s standing with top-tier prospects. Even though flipping Brewster remains uncertain, Florida’s continued involvement shows they are not backing down from the fight for one of the nation’s most coveted players.
