The rich just got richer in the SEC.
The South Carolina Gamecocks women’s basketball have landed one of the biggest recruits in the country, as five-star forward Oliviyah Edwards officially committed to the program after previously being pledged to Tennessee Lady Volunteers basketball.
Edwards, a 6-foot-3 standout and consensus top-three prospect in the 2026 class, reopened her recruitment earlier this month before ultimately choosing South Carolina. Her decision comes after significant roster changes at Tennessee, giving Dawn Staley and the Gamecocks an opportunity they didn’t miss.
The elite forward brings a dominant all-around skill set, highlighted by her scoring, rebounding, and defensive presence. She’s also known for her rare athleticism—including the ability to dunk—making her one of the most unique prospects in the class.
Edwards’ commitment strengthens an already stacked recruiting class and positions South Carolina as an early favorite for the 2026–27 national title. With multiple top recruits and key returners, the Gamecocks continue to build a powerhouse under Staley.
For South Carolina, this isn’t just another signing—it’s a statement to the rest of the SEC and the nation.
