SAN FRANCISCO — The Bay Area is celebrating one of its most beloved voices today as Jon Miller, the Hall of Fame broadcaster and longtime play-by-play announcer for the San Francisco Giants on KNBR, turns 74 years old.
Known for his signature call “Adios, Pelota!” Miller has been the golden voice of Giants baseball for decades, bringing passion, humor, and storytelling brilliance to every inning. Fans across generations credit him with turning ordinary games into unforgettable memories.
Born in San Francisco and raised on the sounds of Bay Area baseball, Miller’s journey to becoming one of the sport’s most respected broadcasters began long before he joined the Giants booth in 1997. Before returning home, he worked with the Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, Texas Rangers, and Oakland A’s, as well as calling national games for ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball for over two decades.
In 2010, his remarkable career was honored with the Ford C. Frick Award, placing him among the all-time greats in the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Yet despite the accolades, it’s his warmth, quick wit, and love for storytelling that have made him a treasure to Giants fans everywhere.
