Texas’ Michael Taaffe Lands on Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award Watch List

The Texas Longhorns have yet another reason to be proud standout defensive back Michael Taaffe has been named to the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award watch list, recognizing his leadership, character, and impact both on and off the field.

The award, presented annually by the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Foundation, honors one college football player who best exemplifies courage, integrity, and sportsmanship traits embodied by the former Dallas Cowboys legend himself.

Taaffe, a junior safety from Austin, has become a key voice in the Longhorns’ locker room, balancing athletic excellence with academic achievement and community service. Known for his intelligence on the field and humility off it, Taaffe’s leadership has been instrumental in guiding a talented Texas defense that continues to rise among the nation’s elite.

Off the field, Taaffe has been deeply involved in community outreach, youth mentorship, and academic initiatives in Austin, reflecting the values that make him a natural fit for this prestigious recognition.
