DONE DEAL: Ex-Hull FC man Jack Ashworth eyes ‘fresh start’ in first words as a Castleford Tigers player…

Jack Ashworth believes Castleford Tigers is the perfect place for him to start fresh after agreeing to make the move back to West Yorkshire.

Ashworth has signed a two-year deal with the Tigers which brings an end to his stint as a Hull FC player. The prop spent two seasons with the Black and Whites and made 41 appearances, but this month’s Hull derby was his last outing for the club after landing a seven-game ban for striking.

It means the forward will miss the Tigers’ opening few weeks of the season, but he’ll hope to hit the ground running when he is able to in what looks set to be a new look Tigers side.

Castleford have already announced a raft of signings for 2026 including Jordan Lane, Semi Valemei, Blake Taaffe, Mikaele Rivalawa and Brock Greacen and more deals are set to follow as Chris Chester makes the finishing touches to Ryan Carr’s squad.

Ashworth likes what he has seen of Castleford’s business so far and he believes the Tigers are the perfect fit for him at this point in his career.

“It’s a fresh start for myself and I think the club is going in that direction as well with the rebranding of the badge and the players that they’ve signed as well,” Ashworth told the club’s YouTube Channel. “It’s an exciting time as a player and for the fans I think. I’m definitely looking forward to it.

“Hopefully everyone complements each other and I’m sure everyone that has signed and coming here is coming to do a job.

“With the rebranding, the club looks like it’s going in a new and exciting direction so it will just be good to get everyone out on that field together and we go from there, we keep building.”

Ashworth started his career at St Helens and made 47 appearances for the club between his debut in 2015 and leaving in 2020.

He joined Huddersfield Giants in 2021 and had three years at the Accu Stadium, where he played 28 times before joining Hull ahead of the 2024 campaign.
