A West Ham player is injured and cannot play against Fulham in the Premier League.
On Saturday afternoon, West Ham United will travel to Craven Cottage to play Fulham in the Premier League.
Following an incredible summer spent at the London Stadium, West Ham’s new manager, Julen Lopetegui, has had some difficulty getting his club to perform as he would like in the Premier League thus far this year.
Lopetegui brought in nine new players throughout the last few months, making some excellent summer acquisitions for the Hammers.
Furthermore, rumors have it that the Spaniard is still looking to recruit at least one more player for free.
That is all really encouraging. Even while this season’s bad performances haven’t always been wonderful, there have been some encouraging things to learn from them.
A victory over Fulham would immediately put us back on track.
However, prior to the match against Fulham, an injury concern has surfaced for the Hammers.
A West Ham player is out of the Premier League match against Fulham.
This weekend’s match against Fulham is crucial for the Hammers to win all three points.
We will have earned a respectable six points from our first four Premier League games if we can do that.
Lopetegui won’t be able to summon a specific player, though.
Injury specialist Ben Dinnery of Premier Injuries reports that Aaron Cresswell, a left-back for the Hammers, will not be included in the squad for this weekend’s match against Fulham.
Last month, in the warm-up before our Carabao Cup match against Bournemouth, the 34-year-old suffered a hamstring injury.
Depending on the extent of the rupture, healing durations from hamstring injuries might vary greatly. A grade 1 injury might allow players to return in three weeks, while a grade 3 issue could keep them out for up to three and a half months.
Naturally, not having Cresswell available for the match against Fulham, or even the ones after the encounter with the Cottagers, won’t be the end of the world.
After all, he’s hardly a consistent starter, right?
But given how busy he is right now, Emerson could have to participate in every game. And what would happen if the 30-year-old got hurt?
It was wise for West Ham to acquire a left-back in the summer.
Lopetegui made an incredible addition to the London Stadium team during the summer transfer window.
He did, however, obviously have one extremely large blind spot.
Without a doubt, the Spaniard ought to have bought a top-tier left-back in the summer to seriously challenge Emerson Palmieri this season.
The only option for covering the Italy international is Aaron Cresswell, who West Ham won’t be able to use for some time owing to injury.
The former Chelsea player runs the risk of growing too used to his current situation and believing that his spot in the squad is unassailable.
Even more concerning, though, is the possibility that Emerson’s excessive game playing this season might lead to burnout.
And if that does occur, Lopetegui will be held accountable for his inability to sign a youthful left back who would have been able to challenge the Italian star.
