SWINDON boss Mark Kennedy thinks his side could have been even bigger winners than 4-0 after outclassing Newport County AFC in League Two.
The Irishman enjoyed his first win in charge of the Robins after a thorough success in Wiltshire.
Swindon won the spoils in a one-sided first half thanks to strikes by Kabongo Tshimanga, Paul Glatzel and Joel Cotterill and an own goal by Matt Baker.
Kennedy took the reins in the summer and thinks the victory was long overdue.
He said: “Our metrics on what we are trying to do are really high and today’s were the same as the other games in terms of crosses, touches in the box, and good crosses.
“We were more clinical, Glatzel’s header was fantastic, the save the ‘keeper makes from Glatzel before Joel’s is incredible but the finish was clinical.
“You couldn’t argue if we had won by six because the ‘keeper has pulled off a couple of really good saves.
“I think that there is always room for growth but I didn’t think that the scoreline flattered us, I think it was very fair.
“I keep saying to the players that when we put crosses into the box you need to be running into the net.
“It is a bit like when you watch 60-metre races and they have the padded area behind and I want them to use the net like that.
“That was very clear today because even for the own goal, Glatz and Kabs [Tshimanga] ended up in the back of the net.”
Swindon had earlier lost to Walsall and Notts County on home soil and picked up draws away to Chesterfield, Crewe and Barrow.
Kennedy said: “I’m really pleased to get the win because we’ve got intelligent fans.
“When I see performances where we haven’t won the game, we’ve got real resounding applause from the fans, so clearly they can see the game and they’re not blinded by results.
“Performances have been good, with the exception of Walsall, but it’s nice when performances are recognised with results.
“But I’m sat here as calm and as balanced as I was when we lost to Notts County. I try not to get personally attached to the result.”
