Despite vocal criticism from Posh owner Darragh MacAnthony, Swindon Town is said to have signed forward Kabongo Tshimanga of Peterborough United on a loan agreement for the 24–25 season.
The 27-year-old striker, who joined the League One team in 2023 from Chesterfield, has had difficulty making an impression. After making the permanent move, he had loan stints at Fleetwood Town and Boreham Wood until being declared transferable at the end of 20
He has previously held positions at a number of teams, including MK Dons, Yeovil Town, Boston United, Oxford City, Chelmsford, Aldershot, and Nuuneaton.
Posh owner Darragh MacAnthony called Swindon Town’s offer “derisory” on his Hard Truth podcast;
“We have a clear position with Kabongo.”
The amount we are requesting is less than what we paid for him, and we have accepted offers from two clubs. Swindon and the Scottish team haven’t made enough of an offer.
We are attempting to act in the player’s and our club’s best interests. After scoring 30 goals in a season in the National League, he ought to be promoted back to the league.
However, the club has now agreed to an agreement to bring the player in on loan, according to Joe Acklam in an exclusive report for the Swindon Advertiser. With the transfer deadline drawing near, the deal is supposedly expected to be finalized early next week. The Daily Record said that they had faced opposition from two non-league teams as well as Partick Thistle, a Scottish team.
Swindon Town’s Unhappy Beginning
Even though the season is still early and the transfer market is still open, Town supporters should be concerned after their team’s worst-ever season. The team lost 4-0 to Walsall and 4-2 to previous boss Scott Lindsey. It would not have been expected, given the new manager’s reputation for defensive steadiness from his time at Lincoln City, for them to give up nine goals in their first three games.
The club and Mark Kennedy will be eager to swiftly address the squad’s deficiencies in order to guarantee a better season than the previous one as the transfer deadline draws near. Their opponents, Crewe Alexandra, are equally eager to start the season. Despite finishing in the play-offs the previous year, they are currently very low in the standings after failing to score any goals. It might be the ideal chance for the Robins to start their campaign with a win and gain momentum.
