Roko Simic, a striker for Cardiff City, disclosed that Sunderland was “close” to signing him before he finalized a move to their Championship rivals.
During the last stages of the summer transfer window, the Croatian was among a number of rumored center striker targets linked with a move to the Stadium of Light. However, he eventually clinched a transition from previous employers RB Salzburg to the Welsh capital. Simic was later dispatched to Belgian team KV Kortrijk for a loan period.
