Southampton Star On Brink Of Exit After Club ‘Won The Battle’ For Him

One of Southampton’s stars has chosen his next destination, and all that’s left to do is finalise the paperwork so that the deal can be completed.

Russell Martin, the manager of Saints, is assessing his team in preparation for the south coast team’s return to the Premier League next season.

Many of the players who were on loan from St. Mary’s are expected back to the team, although their fates remain uncertain.

Southampton Star Close To Sealing Exit

Following Saints’ Premier League relegation last summer, Brazilian defender Lycano left the team and signed a loan deal with Al-Gharafa in Qatar.

After his term ended, he left the club, but it looks like he’s going to be leaving Southampton for good.

Recently, Atletico-MG and Botafogo, two Brazilian teams, have been battling it out for Lycano.

Atletico-MG has reportedly “won the battle” for the defender, and he is expected to sign, according to Brazilian publication UOL.

It is claimed that only procedural matters need to be settled before the agreement is finalised.

Lycano will cost Atletico-MG approximately €5 million to sign with Southampton.

The defender might have chosen to stay in Qatar, but he expressed a strong preference to return to Brazil.

In the summer of 2021, Lycano was signed by the Saints from Torino.
