A recent report claims that Southampton is one of the teams interested in signing an in-demand free agent.

The Saints hosted Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Saturday to kick off their 2024–25 Premier League campaign. Russell Martin’s team lost 1-0 on opening weekend, even though they were reduced to 10 men for the majority of the match and Southampton dominated play.

14 new players have joined Southampton’s roster thus far this transfer window; among them are Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Flynn Downes, who were both on loan at the team the previous season.

Along with defender Nathan Wood, who formerly played for Martin, the Saints have signed Ronnie Edwards, who has been highly regarded for a few years. Along with Ben Brereton Diaz from Villarreal and Charlie Taylor on a free transfer from Burnley, the team has also reconnected with Adam Lallana, who left to join Liverpool several years ago.

Cameron Archer, a striker, is the club’s newest addition. Although the forward was only re-signed by the Midlands club earlier in this transfer window, Archer joined the team permanently from Aston Villa.

In addition to bringing in new players, Southampton has had a number of players depart from the team for various reasons. A few have been sold, some departed earlier this summer when their contracts were up, and several players have also temporarily left the team.

But even though the Saints have already added 14 players, it seems like they may still be in the running for a goalkeeper.

Southampton is prepared to offer a free agent a contract.

The Sunderland Echo has reported that Southampton is interested in signing goalkeeper Vladyslav Krapyvtsov during the remaining days of this transfer window. These reports are attributed to Football24tv.

According to the source, Chelsea and Sunderland, a Championship team, are contenders for the 6′ 2″ goalie, while the Saints are reportedly intrigued as well.

At one point, the goalie was requested to come for a week-long trial by the Black Cats, who were interested in hiring him. The 6′ 2″ goalkeeper became a free agent earlier this summer, but it is now said that both Southampton and Chelsea are prepared to make a contract offer to the player.

The 19-year-old played for SC Dnipro-1’s Under-17 and Under-19 teams over the entirety of his early career while representing his native Ukraine. Although he might be a future addition, Southampton already has Gavin Bazunu, Mateusz Lis, Joe Lumley, and Alex McCarthy in their department, so if he were to sign with them, he would be joining a department that is well-stocked with possibilities.
