Celtic Urged to Sign Scotland International Centre-half

As the summer transfer window looms, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers will be looking to bolster numerous parts of his squad.

The Parkhead gaffer is just off the back of securing a double with the Hoops, but will not want to rest on his laurels and kick on next season.

Despite having Cameron Carter-Vickers, Liam Scales, Maik Nawrocki, and Gustaf Lagerbielke all down to long-term commitments at the club, reports linking Celtic to Austrian international Flavius Daniliuc imply that centre-back is an area Rodgers wants to reinforce this summer.

The 23-year-old would be an attractive addition to the ranks, but former Scotland international right-back Stephen O’Donnell has suggested a viable option for his old squad.

O’Donnell, who spent two years in Celtic’s youth, reckons the Hoops could do worse than signing his ex-national team colleague Scott McKenna.

“There will be lots of interest from other clubs in other countries, but if they (Celtic) wanted him, they would try to get him.

“Would I sign him for Celtic? Yeah, definitely, but I don’t know what the manager is looking for.”

McKenna is a left-footed center-back who can be signed for no money and helps Europe meet its quota of indigenous players. The Bhoys were linked with the 27-year-old in January, and possibly they may make a bid again over the summer.
