Sheffield Wednesday free agent option left open as Danny Röhl answers squad list question

Even though the summer transfer window ended last week, Sheffield Wednesday and all other EFL teams are still able to sign free agents.

Danny Röhl did not completely rule out the idea that Sheffield Wednesday will look to enter the free agent pool following the transfer window’s closing last week. In a busy summer, the Owls made significant changes to their roster, adding 11 senior players, several of whom have been instrumental in the team’s success thus far this season.

Wednesday has exercised the opportunity to sign free agents outside of the window in past seasons. In November 2021, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing signed a contract as a free agent; more recently, a few additional players without contracts have been evaluated potential squad additions outside of the transfer window.
