Several offers on table for player Daniel Farke has confirmed is leaving Leeds United – Sky Sports

After his Leeds United contract expired at the beginning of July, Liam Cooper is still without a club while he considers his other alternatives.

Leeds made a clean sweep at Elland Road, with several marginal players departing permanently due to sales or expiring contracts.

Liam Cooper has an intriguing predicament; the team has announced that they are “in talks” for a potential new contract, yet he is still a free agent over two months after his current one expired.

Cooper hasn’t touched the ball since entering the game off the bench during Norwich City’s 4-0 playoff semifinal thrashing back in May, and he hasn’t signed a deal with any of the teams that have expressed interest in acquiring him on a free transfer.

Despite the lack of an announcement regarding his future with the team, Daniel Farke has stated repeatedly that Cooper is leaving or has left, citing the Scotland international as one of the key players in the dressing room that the team will be difficult to replace alongside Georginio Rutter and others. As a result, the Scotland international won’t be returning to Leeds.

Journalist Tim Thornton of Sky Sports has now given an update on the 32-year-old, who has “several” offers to weigh before the window closes:

Liam Cooper, the former captain of Leeds, is considering his options before deciding on his future after receiving multiple offers.

Cooper, who competed for Scotland in the 2024 European Championship, is accepting offers from both domestic and foreign teams.

“After departing Elland Road at the conclusion of the previous season, the 32-year-old is a free agent.”

Cooper’s current bottom-half championship move is ideal.

Cooper won’t be happy playing in a side that has the most of the possession, a high press, and a high line at this point.

Although he is still technically more than capable of playing in the league, at 32, he should be taking the field deeper and doing less with the ball at his feet.

Given that several teams already appear to require reinforcement at the back in order to stay in the division, some clubs ought to take him up on a free.
