See you next season’: £10m star finally breaks silence after defeat, commits future to Leeds United

Ethan Ampadu has finally broken his silence on social media following Leeds United’s defeat in the play-off final against Southampton at Wembley, pledging fans they “will be back”.

Ampadu, 23, played pretty much every single minute for Leeds in his debut season at Elland Road following his £10m transfer from Chelsea last summer. It has seen him already record up 54 appearances for the club.

Not only that, but Ampadu also played seven times for Wales including full 120 minutes in the penalty-shootout Euro 2024 play-off defeat to Poland. He is scheduled to skipper Wales in two friendlies this week.

The dynamic former Leipzig and Sheffield United loanee has been superb at the defence for the Yorkshire side. So when the full-time whistle blew at Wembley on May 26, you could see exactly how much it meant.

A number of players shed tears in front of the Leeds supporters and Ampadu was one among those, having worn the armband for the second part of the season. Now, he has issued a message to Leeds supporters on Instagram.

The Leeds workhorse scarcely put a foot wrong all season and oddly, the one obvious error he did make came in the 4-0 win against Norwich in the play-off semi-finals and was bailed out by Illan Meslier.

He informed Leeds fans on social media that Leeds will return to the forefront of the Championship promotion race in next season and hailed the club’s followers for their fiery support during the 2023-24 campaign.
