Former head of Aberdeen, Keith Wyness, has urged private equity to acquire Rangers, seeing a “Todd Boehly lite” taking over the team.
The 66-year-old, who led Aberdeen from 2000 to 2004, also held extended leadership positions at Everton and Aston Villa, and currently operates a football consultancy providing advice to elite clubs, stated that “now is the right time to strike” for interested parties following the Ibrox club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League in an interview with Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast.
As reported by City AM on August 27, American investors are showing interest in purchasing Rangers, with an estimated valuation of £150 million.
There are rumors that certain current Ibrox shareholders are considering selling.
In 2022, Boehly assumed leadership of Chelsea, making the team one of nine Premier League teams primarily owned by American investors.
