Rangers have struck gold on Ibrox gem who’s worth millions more than Cerny

Glasgow Rangers was supposed to sell a number of first-team players and bring in top-notch replacements in order to completely restructure the playing roster during the summer transfer window.

While Philippe Clement was able to let go of top earners like Borna Barisic, Connor Goldson, Sam Lammers, and John Lundstram, the reality is that the new players haven’t exactly been spectacular overall.

The addition of Clinton Nsiala, Connor Barron, Oscar Cortes, and Hamza Igamane to the team indicates that Clement is undoubtedly pursuing a youth-based transfer strategy.

A few seasoned newcomers were added, and Vaclav Cerny showed throughout the season’s opening weeks that he could be a wise addition for the Light Blues.

Rangers statistics for Vaclav Cerny

The winger, who came from Bundesliga team Wolfsburg on a season-long loan, has made an early impression.

The Czech dynamo has only scored once and picked up two assists in just six outings this season. Of those games, he has only started three. The 26-year-old’s output will only rise if he can secure consistent starts in the starting lineup.

Wolfsburg would have probably held out for a cost in this range, which is why the Light Blues chose a loan deal rather a permanent one. The player was only signed by FC Twente last summer for £6 million.

However, Clement has added a player to the team in the form of Mohamed Diomande, who is worth more than Cerny.

The Ivorian moved permanently to Scotland in the summer for a cost of £4.6 million after initially joining the Ibrox team in January for a six-month loan.

Early in his tenure, he shown his abilities with two goals in 19 games during the second part of the previous season, raising expectations for the upcoming year.

Even though Diomande hasn’t scored in the Premier League yet this year, the dynamic midfielder has already collected an assist, created two excellent opportunities, averaged one crucial pass per game, and successfully completed 1.3 dribbles per game (57% success rate), demonstrating how effective he has been going forward in the league this season.

The 22-year-old is still learning and growing with each game, but if he continues to play at this level, most people believe he will be sold for a high price in the near future.
