BREAKING NEWS: Rangers defender Ridvan Yilmaz plans Ibrox stay

The 23-year-old left-back has been repeatedly linked with a move to Turkish clubs. Back in January, it was reported that he was weighing his options amid interest from Turkish clubs Galatasaray and Besiktas.

However, any probable move did not materialise and he stayed on. He made 34 appearances in all competitions last season, and as per Football Scotland, the player hopes to continue at Ibrox beyond the summer.

Yilmaz hopes to push for a regular starting berth after Borna Barisic left the club after his contract expired.

Rangers have already acquired a new left-back in the form of Jefte and Yilmaz will battle with the Brazilian to gain a berth in Philippe Clement’s first squad next week.

Smart decision from Ridvan Yilmaz to stay at Ibrox

Football Scotland reported on 8 June that Rangers are open to offers for majority of their team as Clement wants to execute a comprehensive revamp.

Having previously sold Barisic, Clement is unlikely to sell Yilmaz unless there’s a truly excellent offer on the table. As of now, there’s none.

Yilmaz is a highly skilled player who might become a big asset for the Bears provided he avoids injury concerns. Clement will be thrilled to see that the left-back wants to battle for his place.

Meanwhile, Rangers could sell Ianis Hagi this summer. The Romanian winger has already directed his agent to locate the perfect team and manager for him, and Clement probably will not stand in his way.

Another player who could depart Ibrox is Sam Lammers. The 27-year-old forward is not in Clement’s plans and might leave the club this summer, with FC Twente pushing for his signature.
