QPR boss explains Jack Colback’s Sheffield United red card and asked about Ilias Chair’s injury return
Jack Colback received two yellow cards for dissent, which led to his dismissal from the 2-2 draw against Sheffield United, according to Marti Cifuentes.
The seasoned midfield player objected to a call made by referee Anthony Backhouse and was booked twice in the span of four minutes.
After entering the game as a halftime substitute, Colback got the second yellow card for arguing with the fourth official with Rangers was still behind 2-1.
Cifuentes stated, “I spoke with him and the officials.”
According to Jack, it appears like one of the Sheffield United players who had previously received a yellow card was requesting one by raising his hand, which is permitted under the regulations.
Therefore, Sheffield United does not receive a red card; rather, it goes the other way.
For the second one, he continued to inquire, it is true. He got very close to the fourth official, and he mistook it for a second yellow, which I felt was really harsh. I asked him what was going on and why he was getting upset.
“I find refereeing to be very challenging, and I think this situation affected the game significantly.”
“We must acknowledge that the players are fallible human beings who occasionally make mistakes.

“I don’t believe he came in an impolite or nasty manner, but I will speak with him when we get back on Tuesday.”
Midfielder Lucas Andersen’s injury in the first half was an additional letdown for Cifuentes.
After hurting his groin when taking a corner, the Danish playmaker had to be replaced, and the head coach of QPR speculated that there might have been a muscle strain.
The test findings of Ilias Chair’s back issue, which reappeared on Friday, are a source of additional anxiety for Cifuentes.
The QPR owner stated, “We were hoping it would be less severe, but sadly, it’s a lower back problem that will keep him out of action for a few more weeks.”
Since I’m not a doctor, I can’t say for sure when Chair will return, but generally speaking, neither can physicians.
“We must evaluate his progress on a daily and weekly basis.
Regretfully, the testing revealed that the development was essentially in line with our expectations.
“I have a positive outlook all the time. Although I had hoped for a quicker process, that is the case. It takes time for the bone bruise to heal.
