QPR boss Cifuentes hopes to be able to call on new recruits for Sheffield United test

In Saturday’s match between QPR and Sheffield United, Marti Cifuentes hopes to start new acquisitions Karamoko Dembele and Koki Saito.

Rangers confirmed the loan acquisitions of both wingers on Tuesday. Dembele, a former player for Blackpool, traveled with the team for the EFL Cup match against Cambridge United, but he did not play.

Before he may play, Japanese international Saito needs to confirm that he has a work permit.

Since Chris Willock left in the summer, Cifuentes has had few alternatives on the sides and is eager to engage his new arrivals at Bramall Lane.

The head coach of QPR stated, “They (Dembele and Saito) will bring skills and qualities that we were looking for.”

“In their brief careers as young players, they have both demonstrated the ability to create goal opportunities and bring good quality to one-on-one situations.”

“I am pleased to add players that have room to grow because they are now old enough to contribute to our shows while still receiving the assistance they need to advance as athletes.

“They both come from different backgrounds. Karamoko has been playing a respectable amount of minutes for his team in France, where he participated in four preseason friendlies.

“We’ll see how he reacts to training tomorrow, but his level of fitness appears to be good.

“Koki [along with Japan] is returning from the Olympics.” He hasn’t stopped for that long—he took a week off before coming here—but he still needs to resume his daily workout.

“It won’t be long before they start to help,” the performance team said after examining them over the past four days.

The amount of early-season playing time that Rangers academy graduates Alfie Lloyd and Rayan Kolli have had may be impacted by the signing of Dembele and Saito.

After Kolli had opened the scoring in the opening Championship matchup against West Brom, Lloyd got things going at Cambridge.

Cifuentes, though, is certain that the two young people won’t immediately go down in the hierarchy at Loftus Road.

He stated, “It’s up to the players.” “A new player we sign will not automatically be placed in the starting lineup; instead, they must demonstrate their ability and readiness.

“In that instance, I don’t give a damn if they’re 17 or 37, and I don’t consider the transfer fee.”

“I am thrilled to provide academy players who truly deserve it with opportunities.”

“Rayan received an assist in his first club start [against West Brom], and Alfie had a strong performance against Cambridge.”

The fact that we have young guys playing and making a contribution is fantastic news for the team. That also applies to Koki and Dembele: it is entirely up to them all.

The two wide men are the newest arrivals to a summer recruitment campaign that has seen 14 players depart the club and eight new faces join W12.

Although the QPR manager urged patience before to the trip to Sheffield, the team’s dismal start to the Championship season—a 3-1 loss to West Brom—was expected.

According to Cifuentes, “the goal is to bring players who naturally adapt to what we want to do and to my football idea.”

“Hopefully, it will aid in adapting more quickly. After that, it will be about adjusting to the relationships with the other players on the field.

“I know it will take some time for this team to reach its full potential in terms of performance. It’s how all football teams operate naturally.

“How much time will it take? I’m not sure. It could require a few weeks or several months. However, it will take some time until we get the desired image.”

By Saturday, Cifuentes may have even more alternatives because Ilias Chair will be evaluated as he continues to heal from a back bruise.
