Paul Pierce On The Orlando Magic: “They Got Something Down There…”

Although Paul Pierce thinks highly of the Orlando Magic, they are not usually a team to monitor in the East. During a conversation with his erstwhile colleague Kevin Garnett, Pierce discussed the Magic and described them as a challenger to the current NBA champs.

Pierce stated, “I think Orlando is going to be better.” “I believe they have a winning combination because they have the best player among those three teams (Pacers, Magic, and Cavaliers). Though I really like Donovan Mitchell, Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, and his brother are also strong contenders. They have a squad down there; they’re youthful, self-assured, and aware of how to play together. They are the only team that has caused the Celtics trouble in the past few years.

Everyone knows that the East is ruled by the Celtics in today’s game. Together with Derrick White, Jrue Holiday, Jayson Tatum, and Jaylen Brown, they advanced through the playoffs and won their first title since 2008. Few teams have a chance to challenge the Celtics, who are strongly predicted to win it again in 2025 with a group that will return for the majority of the following season.

The Orlando Magic are one of those clubs, according to Pierce. They had been struggling for years, but in the last few years they have found success in the draft and assembled a quality young team that features players like Jalen Suggs, Cole Anthony, Markelle Fultz, Wendell Carter Jr., and Franz Wagner.

With a 47-35 record, the Magic placed fifth in the East the previous season. They had their greatest season in years, and they managed to qualify for the playoffs, where they will face the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round. The Magic, who had never played a series before, forced the Cavaliers to seven games before losing and came very close to winning it.

The Magic caused the Celtics a lot of trouble during the season, and their size, skill, and depth might have been a serious threat in a seven-game series. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out, and the Magic will have to wait until the following season for another opportunity.

The Magic were able to strengthen their backcourt, which was in dire need of experience and a perimeter shooter, by adding Kentavious Caldwell-Pope this summer. They also agreed to a rookie contract with forward Tristan Da Silva.

Paolo Banchero is, of course, the Magic’s biggest x-factor. With averages of 22.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game on 45% shooting during the previous season, he suddenly became a star. His first of many All-Star campaigns was that one.

The Magic will be more potent than ever if Banchero can keep improving and elevate his game, and they may even be able to challenge the Celtics for the title of Eastern Conference winners. However, given their protracted and significant track record of failure, many people continue to seriously doubt the Orlando Magic’s ability to be a serious contender for the championship.

The Magic are undoubtedly in a better spot right now than they have been for the majority of their previous franchise history, but only time will tell how they compare.
