At Adelaide Oval, Joel Amartey scored nine goals, a career high, to lead Sydney to a 42-point comeback victory over Adelaide.

In the game on Saturday night, the Crows had a 23-point advantage late in the second quarter and had overcome Amartey’s initial blitzkrieg to maintain a 16-point edge late in the third.

However, Amartey’s valiant efforts finally proved to be too much for the Crows, as Sydney scored the next ten goals of the game to win 16.13 (109) to 10.7 (67).

Sydney now sits three wins clear at the top of the ladder with a 12-1 record after their eleventh straight victory.

At the half, Amartey had nothing to show for his efforts, but he turned the tide of the game by kicking four goals in the second and four more in the third.

In the last quarter, he scored another goal to complete with 9.1 points from 10 disposals.

The 24-year-old’s haul was the highest for a Sydney player since round 23, 2017, when Lance Franklin kicked ten goals against Carlton.

Amartey’s previous personal high was four goals, but he is now in the running for the Coleman Medal after his incredible night against Adelaide increased his season total to 31 goals.

With 35 disposals and 10 clearances, Errol Gulden was also very impressive for Sydney, as was Brodie Grundy, who finished with 31 possessions, 9 clearances, and 49 hitouts.

Sydney had fallen behind at the break for the fourth straight game, and with seven minutes left in the half, a Brayden Cook volley placed Adelaide ahead 45–22. That was cause for concern.

Even though Amartey had already scored a goal from a powerful mark earlier in the second term, Sydney’s poor entry, which frequently favored Adelaide’s defenders, repeatedly upset him.

In the last five minutes of the quarter, Amartey capitalized on Sydney’s mistakes by scoring three goals in a row.

Using a set shot at a close angle, the first of that flurry was produced.

Amartey helped cut the lead to four points as he finished the half with 4.0 from four kicks.

After the intermission, the Crows continued their offensive, and with six minutes remaining in the third quarter, Sydney had still not scored a goal for the game.

All of that was quickly altered, as the Swans ended the period with six goals straight, four of which came from Amartey.

Amartey scored goals primarily from marks, and his efforts at the end of regulation gave Sydney a 21-point lead.

The Swans’ nearly unstoppable midfield has garnered a lot of attention this season. While Chad Warner and Isaac Heeney have received the majority of the attention—and rightfully so—Errol Gulden has quietly gone unnoticed but is having an equally amazing season to his teammates. The 21-year-old recorded a game-high 35 disposals, 10 clearances, six tackles, one goal, and 766m gained against the Crows, demonstrating his exceptional play once again.

Joel Amartey, who scored nine goals in the last term, was benched twice in separate instances.

With ten minutes left in the quarter, he took a hard mark halfway through and kicked goal number nine. Immediately after, he hurried to the bench to rest. A few minutes later, he was back on the field, and his teammates were trying everything they could to win him a tenth major. He came close to scoring a few times, but was unable to find the magic 10-goal haul. Coach John Longmire eventually pulled him off the field for the game’s last two minutes.

Swan recently signed again On Saturday night, Will Hayward celebrated his 150th game, and the milestone man appeared prepared to make an early impression on the game. Hayward had the first shot of the match, which ultimately went through for a behind, and he then came dangerously close to taking a Virgin Australia Mark of the Year candidate a few moments later. Even though Hayward didn’t have as much of an impact as he usually does given his high expectations, the Swans still managed to win 12 games this season. Errol Gulden, Ollie Florent, and James Rowbottom are joined by the 25-year-old.
