Having managed against the midfielder when down south and then again at Celtic, the St Mirren manager knows the player inside and out. It is widely anticipated that O’Riley will soon complete his historic move to Brighton.
Furthermore, Robinson anticipates that should a transfer agreement be completed, the Denmark international will excel in the Premier League.
“At Morecambe, O’Riley scored two goals against me,” remembered Robinson. “I believe I assisted in sending him on his way.”
“At that point in his career, it was evident what an incredible football player he was.”
He was a fantastic talent who was once again recruited by Celtic from the lesser levels.
He’s proven to be a really talented player. That is beyond dispute. Players with such talent are being pursued by larger clubs, so it’s clear that you’ve heard of them and are aware of them.
That is not the same as stopping them. He has performed admirably for Celtic. With his talent, he was bound for greatness.
Celtic supporters won’t desire his departure. What occurs there is not my concern. However, he has performed admirably for Celtic and is a top-tier football player.
Kyogo Furuhashi, a striker for Celtic, has also been connected to a move out of the club following unexpected connections with Manchester City.
In all honesty, Robinson is praying that both of the important players depart Celtic before their Sunday afternoon visit to the SMiSA Stadium.
When asked if the rumors surrounding the two affect his preparation, he responded, “No, because they just bring in another extremely talented player!
To be honest, it would be wonderful news if these were completed by Sunday.
“Look, those two players are excellent football players at the highest level. However, Celtic has a deep roster, and Brendan has, as always, done a fantastic job at recruiting.
“They will have individuals to take their place, or they will be replacing them soon.”
