This season, one Sheffield Wednesday player feels he hasn’t played as well as he could have.

It’s been a mixed season so far for Sheffield Wednesday. However, outcomes and performances are rapidly getting better.

Danny Rohl’s team has only lost once in four games during the September international break, earning five out of a possible 12 points to move up to 19th position in the Championship standings.

One may argue that performances against teams like QPR and Luton Town merited more than a point. However, the 3-2 victory over West Brom was noteworthy.

The Owls earned their first away point of the year and their first clean sheet since the first game of the season on Wednesday night as they drew 0-0 with Bristol City.

A number of players stood out the entire time; Di’Shon Bernard, who had a patchy year to begin with, was back to his best.

James Beadle made an impression elsewhere, and Dom Howson encouraged him to reach the summit following a run of excellent saves against the Robins.

Since then, in eight Championship games, the 20-year-old has kept two clean sheets. During the break last month, he also trained with the senior England team.

Undoubtedly, he enjoys high admiration among young goalkeepers. But he’s also got a lot of room to improve.

Beadle received criticism for what appeared to be an early fall against Leeds United last month, which gave Dan James an easy goal.

After the Bristol City match, Rohl addressed the team and remarked that Beadle’s performance at Ashton Gate was his finest of the year.

When asked if he agreed, Beadle replied, “Probably, yeah.” To put it mildly, I haven’t had the finest start to the season.

“However, I support my coaches and myself every training day, and it’s nice to contribute today.”

James Beadle will continue to improve.

Beadle was maybe half the player he is today when he came in January of last season.

However, he soon got better. Beadle demonstrated exceptional passing skills as well as remarkable shot-stopping prowess.

Beadle has complimented goalie coach Sal Bibbo who has worked at a Premier League level, and is no doubt playing a significant role in Beadle’s progress.

As was the case the previous season, Beadle’s passing and shot-stopping skills will undoubtedly continue to advance quickly.

With several outstanding saves both this season and last, he’s raised the bar for himself. It’s time to start finding consistency.
