This summer’s transfer window has been among the least exciting for any Premier League team, including Newcastle United.
Except for signing Lloyd Kelly on a free transfer, Eddie Howe’s team hasn’t made many additions to strengthen their roster for the 2024–2025 season.
After Paul Mitchell was appointed earlier this summer, there was likely a lot of hope that Newcastle’s business would improve.
That hasn’t shown to be the case at all, though, as rumored departures continue to make headlines on Tyneside.
Everton has expressed interest in Kieran Trippier, so he is still a player who could leave Newcastle before the deadline.
At St. James’ Park, though, the Magpies are still hoping to make some progress before the game ends on Friday. It’s not all about departures.
TBR Football has learned that Newcastle is still considering making a new offer for the Everton striker before the transfer window closes at the end of the month. They are still interested in Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Newcastle is thinking of making a bid for Dominic Calvert-Lewin of Everton.
Because of Howe’s intense admiration for Calvert-Lewin, Newcastle came dangerously close to signing him earlier in the summer as part of a trade for Yankuba Minteh. However, both Howe and Newcastle are still interested in the player.
In the event that Chelsea’s attempt to sign Victor Osimhen fails, Calvert-Lewin has also been mentioned as a potential backup.
The Everton striker’s season hasn’t exactly gotten off to a great start because the Toffees haven’t scored in their first two games.
However, as TBR has previously disclosed, Eden would be willing to selling the “fantastic” Calvert-Lewin this summer as he has less than a year left on his present contract.
Given Newcastle’s interest in Kieran Trippier, Calvert-Lewin may sign with Everton.
Additionally, sources attest to the possibility of seeing Kielan Trippier traveling the other way. Last week, Trippier lost his position as Newcastle captain when Howe gave Bruno Guimaraes the armband and told Trippier that Tino Livramento would be his first option at right back.
Trippier has made it known that he wants to leave, and Everton wants him, despite Howe’s wishes for him to stay.
Since Everton only has one spot available for Premier League loans, signing Trippier to a permanent contract would be ideal for them since it would free up another loan slot. However, the cost is a concern.
TBR is aware that Trippier’s cost, even though it is a separate contract, might be covered by a trade for Calvert-Lewin, who has expressed his desire to leave Everton and that he will not be signing a new contract at this time.
