“We needed a goalscorer” – Rotherham United regret voiced over Jonson Clarke-Harris, Coventry City call

Rotherham United manager Steve Evans expressed regret over missing out on signing Jonson Clarke-Harris earlier, emphasizing that the club desperately needed a proven goalscorer. Clarke-Harris, known for his prolific record in League One, returned to Rotherham this summer after stints with Peterborough and Bristol Rovers, where he twice won the division’s Golden Boot. His return followed a turbulent period at Coventry City, where he struggled to find form.

Evans highlighted that Clarke-Harris’s experience and leadership qualities make him a key addition as Rotherham aims for promotion back to the Championship. The striker’s presence has already boosted confidence among the squad, but Evans acknowledged that securing him earlier could have changed their trajectory last season.

The Millers hope Clarke-Harris’s sharpness improves after an injury-affected pre-season, with his extra training sessions aimed at regaining full fitness.
