Millwall pushing for loan move for Championship striker with deal on the cards

Millwall are keen on luring the attacker down to London before the end of the transfer window. They have until the deadline this evening to get a deal over the line.

Coburn, 21, is under contract at Middlesbrough until June 2027 meaning they are under no pressure to sell him at this stage of his career and he could still have a bright future ahead of him at the Riverside Stadium down the line. He has featured for Michael Carrick’s side already this season and has also been eyed by Preston North End, as per journalist Pete O’Rourke on X.

In this latest update regarding the player’s future on deadline day by The Northern Echo, the Lions remain interest and could end up getting their man. Neil Harris is eager to bring in more players today.

The attacker was handed his first professional deal in 2021 and made his debut in the same year in a league fixture against Rotherham United.

The North Yorkshire-born man has since made 48 appearances in all competitions for the second tier outfit and has chipped in with 11 goals, five of which came in the last campaign.

Coburn spent time away on loan at Bristol Rovers in the 2022/23 season to get some experience under his belt in League One and found the net on 10 occasions in 40 outings for the Gas before heading back to his parent club.

He would get more regular game time away from Middlesbrough and Millwall could be an ideal temporary home for him.

Time will tell whether the Lions end up landing Coburn.

A loan seems to suit both parties though so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the pair sort something.

Millwall are back in action this weekend with a home clash against Sheffield Wednesday as they hunt for their first win. They drew 0-0 away at Hull City last time out in the league.
