NEWS UPDATE: Millwall defender McNamara: Playoffs are possible next season.

Danny McNamara thinks there’s no reason Millwall can’t be a play-off contender the next season instead of a relegation battler.

Following Neil Harris’ appointment as head coach in February, the South Londoners concluded the 2023–24 Championship campaign with a strong performance, with only Ipswich Town collecting more points than the Lions.

Additionally, Millwall’s all-time top goalscorer, the head coach, has the defenseman McNamara convinced that the Den team can contend at the top of the table.

After Harris took over for Joe Edwards, the Lions won five of their six SE16 games and did not lose at home. The significant change in form led to a 13th-place finish.

McNamara told the South London Press, “We can use the experience of this season to go and push up the other end.”

“There is no reason we can’t; we have been in and around it (the play-off picture) the last couple of seasons. Hopefully, we can bolster our team by adding a few more members.

“We’ll go back and try our best.

“The group was greatly elevated by the helicopter arriving. We were at our lowest point. Performances and results weren’t what we wanted.

Neil may have mentioned it, but the fact that we weren’t seeing results made visiting The Den rather unsettling.

We were eager to visit The Den while Neil was in charge. We were eager to arrive there. Football operates in an odd way; we feel like we can take anyone down there these days.

“I don’t believe anyone could have done the job better than Harris.” It is a tremendous accomplishment.

It was all about getting back to the old Millwall way of playing hard and badly against opponents. Winning every battle on the pitch, including one-on-one matches. exceeding the opposition in speed.

“Although we’re not the finest team in the league, Millwall supporters will support us if we work hard and give it our all. “We must return to the basics.”
