With Matt O’Riley expected to leave, Celtic is apparently getting ready to step up its pursuit of Mateusz Bogusz, the star player for Los Angeles FC.
According to Record Sport, the Scottish Premiership winners have been informed that they will need to make significant spending commitments in order to match Major League Soccer teams’ valuations of the Poland U21 international. The former Leeds United player, who has scored 17 goals this season and is valued at over £8 million, is reportedly being courted by Celtic.
Bogusz won’t be sold before Sunday’s Final against Columbus Crew after he stunned LA in their League Cup semi-final victory over Colorado Rapids on Wednesday. However, with O’Riley on the verge of a historic move to Brighton, the hunt for a replacement is intensifying. Before the window closes, Celtic “will now step up his efforts to replace” O’Riley with Bogusz, according to The Daily Mail. It is still unclear if Celtic will match the American team’s price.
