According to Neil Harris, it’s too soon to tell how seriously Josh Coburn and Jake Cooper were hurt in the 1-0 loss to Luton Town.
Coburn was brought in during the first half, and Shaun Hutchinson took Cooper’s place following the interval.
Near the end of the first half, the Lions defender had been treated after a corner.
Both have calf problems, but it won’t be known until after the weekend which one will be absent for an extended length of time.
“To lose your big man after 20 minutes is tough,” Harris remarked after the game. We’re really frustrated by this, and we hope he returns soon.
“Jake and him appear to have calf injuries.” We won’t know until we give them the next 24 to 48 hours to calm down. However, they are two of our most important players.
The Lions manager continued with a positive report on club record acquisition Mihailo Ivanovic, suggesting that he might be fit for the trip to Queens Park Rangers the following weekend.
In response to the question of whether Ivanovic will return before the upcoming international break, Harris said, “No, no, before that! He has a broken fifth metatarsal and is healing from a little hamstring strain, so we know he needs to be extremely cautious.
“But, there’s a remote possibility that he could play on Saturday [against QPR], but he has to fulfil a few requirements first. We must be careful not to overwork him since he will then be sidelined for eight, ten, or twelve weeks.Nobody is more eager than me to see him on the pitch! I will definitely be pushing people inside the building, but I also realise that this young man is here to stay, so we all need to treat him with the utmost respect.”But in the end, we also need Josh in the short term if he won’t be available.”
