Major Rangers fears rise as £2.5m star posted missing on international duties after Ibrox blow

The Rangers’ crushing defeat at the hands of Celtic last Saturday left them with a lot of pain.

Supporters of the Gers have frequently become irate, and this could even lead to James Tavernier, the team captain, leaving after harsh public criticism.

While indifferent Rangers supporters who have seen this tale before have already started to write a regretful conclusion, Philippe Clement maintains that it’s not as bad as it seems and that his team will get better.

Rangers supporters are particularly drawn to one scene from the 3-0 thrashing for a variety of reasons: a rattled winger named Rabbi Matondo left the game hurt during the first half.

While Clement mentioned hamstring problems, some may have thought the Welsh winger was trying to avoid play, but the attacker’s absence from international duty has sparked concerns about a potentially more serious ailment.

Fears of Rabbi Matondo’s injury following the Celtics thrashing

Although Rabbi Matondo is an undeniably talented player, the former Schalke winger consistently seems to lose the mental battle.

Problems with repeated injuries haven’t helped either.

However, Matondo was one of several Rangers players who lost their heads early when mistaken hope arose in the team before the Old Firm clash at Celtic Park.

Moments after Alistair Johnston lunged to bring a ball in across the box for Daizen Maeda to begin the battering, Matondo was caught jogging back. Things got worse.

Just as the Old Firm derby is about to take off, a player who has been working hard on the pitch suddenly stops with an unidentified injury.

Ross McCausland took Rabbi Matondo’s place seven minutes before halftime, although Clement remained vague about any injuries sustained during the game.

However, following his recall to the Welsh national team, Matondo’s absence from the team’s last two games has raised concerns about yet another long-term problem.

It could also clarify why the young ex-Manchester City player was unsuccessful in a footrace at Celtic Park.

Wales doubleheader is missed by a Rangers winger.

Rabbi Matondo was called up to Craig Bellamy’s team, although he did not play in Wales’ first UEFA Nations League B Group 4 matches.

Matondo did not play in Wales’ 0-0 draw with Turkey in Cardiff, nor did he play in Wales’ thrilling 2-1 triumph against Montenegro.

Supporters of the Rangers will be waiting for news on the winger, whose time at Ibrox has been severely disrupted by a number of injuries.

Although the English Championship expressed interest in Matondo leaving Rangers in the summer, the Ibrox team declined to approve a loan departure.

In an effort to reduce the Rangers’ chronic injury problems, Philippe Clement has completely redesigned the medical staff.

Rangers still lack players like Ridvan Yilmaz, Nicolas Raskin, Oscar Cortes, and Matondo from the team, therefore the strategy has had a mixed result thus far.

Along with Matondo, the Brazilian striker Danilo is also under question for his fitness after being left out of the team’s Europa League roster this season.

Some fans now think both players will be sidelined for some time, and the club’s practice of signing players who are prone to injuries and not prepared for Scottish football or the demands of Rangers’ demanding schedule has come under scrutiny.

Rabbi Matondo joined Rangers in 2022 on a £2.5 million contract after leaving Schalke 04, and he has since made 65 appearances while scoring eight goals.
