Leicester City target France forward omitted from squad ahead of potential transfer

As they look for more attackers, Leicester City has gotten in touch with Jonathan Ikone of Fiorentina.

The Italian media has listed City and Wolves as bidders for the 26-year-old. Because the club was expecting a sale, he was left out of the Fiorentina team for their Serie A match on Sunday, where they drew 0-0 with Venezia.

Before Friday’s deadline, City is in dire need of two new attackers, with an offensive midfielder and a striker reportedly leading the way. Ikone is flexible but has spent much of his career playing as a winger.

Steve Cooper has demonstrated his appreciation for players who can play up forward, in the number 10 spot, and out wide by signing Jordan Ayew and Bobby De Cordova-Reid this summer. That is also checked for Ikone.

Since then, have been connected to the French international on several occasions. Four years ago, after his breakthrough with Lille, they were rumored to be interested in him, with a speculated price tag of £40 million.

In his 2.5 years at Fiorentina, he has scored 12 goals and provided 14 assists. In 43 games during the previous season, he scored five goals and provided three assists, primarily from the right wing and cutting in on his preferred left foot.
