Yesterday marked the formal confirmation of Celtic’s 2024–25 UEFA Champions League squad, as the Hoops prepare for their third consecutive season competing in Europe’s top club competition.
The Bhoys have consistently finished last in their groups over the last two years, but as the new league phase gets underway, they will be hoping that changes.
In fact, the Celts’ goal is to place in the top 24 of a 36-team league table, and to that end, they will play eight different teams—four at home and four away.
Manager Brendan Rodgers has a rather decent roster to choose from for the Hoos’ games.
In the middle of the park, the management can choose from players like Paulo Bernardo, Luke McCowan, Arne Engels, Callum McGregor, and Reo Hattate.
Odin Thiago Holm, a first-team midfielder, was one player who was left off of the Champions League roster.
Although he was the first player signed during Rodgers’ second time at Celtic, the Norwegian wasn’t very important last season.
As of now in the 2024–25 season, Holm has only played 24 minutes in all competitions. This pattern has continued.
Despite his excellent reputation coming from Norway, the 21-year-old hasn’t impressed Rodgers despite showing some promise.
In fact, the management had chastised both his and Bosun Lawal’s preseason work output, so maybe his exclusion from the European team wasn’t all that shocking.
With a Celtic contract that expires in2028, a loan might be the greatest option for Holm to advance his career.
