The radio host was discussing Rangers’ current situation—the Ibrox team has lagged behind the Scottish champions—with former Celtic manager Neil Lennon.
Since Celtic defeated Rangers in the Glasgow Derby at Celtic Park, a lot of conversation has focused on the disparity between the two teams.
And while many concur that there is a divide between the two teams on and off the pitch, Brazil asked Lennon whether he thought there was another team in Scotland that might challenge Celtic for the Scottish Premiership.
Brazil: Who are the “biggest challengers” for Celtic? for the SPFL championship
Alan Brazil asked Lennon about the likelihood of the Glasgow two splitting up, as Rangers currently trail Celtic and Aberdeen by five points at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
“Neil, just a quickie and I’m being deadly honest and serious here, there are clearly problems at Rangers,” Brazil questioned on talkSPORT.
“Could Aberdeen and Hearts be Celtic’s main rivals this season?”
Although Aberdeen is currently having a great start to the season, do they have the players to mount a serious title challenge?
Lennon believes Rangers will soon get better.
As a manager and player, Lennon has had some fantastic matches with his former Glasgow opponent. Although he acknowledges that Rangers aren’t playing at their best right now, he still makes the Ibrox club Celtic’s main competitor.
“Well, Aberdeen have had a great start under their new coach Jimmy Thelin, but I expect Rangers to improve as this season goes on,” Lennon laughed in response.
“I believe the Europa League games will give them a little boost.” They play Man United and Spurs in numerous exciting matches.
“Nevertheless, Clement has had a challenging start, and given the situation, he’s doing the best he can.”
After this week’s Champions League matches, Celtic will play managerless St Johnstone at Celtic Park on Saturday, September 28.
Even though Rangers play Hibs at Ibrox the next day, the supporters will still be expecting another three points to close the margin to eight points.
Even though the season is only a few weeks old, Celtic has already established itself as the dominant force, and it appears like Brendan Rodgers’ team will be hard to stop.
