He just makes people better around him' – Millwall boss praises Shaun Williams after drop into non-league – South London News

“I spoke with Willo about playing and about coaching in the summer – we had a good chat,” Lions head coach Harris said to the South London Press. Willo obviously wanted to keep on playing.

“He had the motivation and the will to keep playing. I told him to go ahead and do it while he still had that mindset. I advised him to locate the best club for himself because he wanted to continue playing and I knew he wouldn’t be there for long.

“Being more part-time and dropping a few leagues is a different challenge for him.

“I had fun playing at every level I tried. “Enjoy the levels you have played at,” I said to him. For the most of your life, you have participated in championship and international football. After playing League One and League Two, try your hand at non-league play.

He has had a very successful and long career because of his professionalism, winning mentality, and self-improvement.

“With older players, it’s not just about Shaun Williams having fun; it’s also about what he’s contributing to the game.” Not only did I know he would be a fantastic player in League One or League Two when I took him to Gillingham. It was because I was aware of the leadership and experience he would impart to others around him in the changing room.
