There are a lot of intriguing matchups that the NBA has shown since releasing the schedule. Opening night features a fantastic game between the defending champion Boston Celtics and the archrival New York Knicks on October 22. The legendary Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics recently discussed his thoughts on the game on “All The Smoke.”
“The league is keeping an ear to it. They paid attention to us. That is going to burn. The Nova Knicks are headed for the B,” stated Garnett. The Celtics are ready to defend their 18th NBA title, which puts them in the lead in the league. This offseason, the Knicks strengthened their squad by re-signing All-NBA defender OG Anunoby and acquiring skilled swingman Mikal Bridges. Bridges’ arrival brings him back together with former Villanova colleagues Donte DiVincenzo, an NBA champion, veteran Josh Hart, and All-Star player Jalen Brunson.
The Knicks, led by head coach Tom Thibodeau, are moving in the right path after winning 50 games during the regular season for the first time in more than ten years. That’s just one of the numerous reasons they were picked to play Boston on the NBA’s inaugural night. Because it has built on a strong season and offseason, New York might be viewed as a serious danger to Boston.
The Celtics, however, defeated all opponents en route to winning the championship the previous season, so the Knicks will have their work cut out for them. However, one thing is certain. Boston’s opening night might be explosive.
