BREAKING NEWS”Keeper Begovic leaves QPR

QPR, who are nearing an agreement to acquire French custodian Paul Nardi, has lost Asmir Begovic.

The non-contractual Begovic, 37, had discussions over a new contract at Loftus Road, but he has decided to go on.

He was informed by Rangers head coach Marti Cifuentes that he wouldn’t be the team’s first choice keeper the following year.

The 30-year-old Nardi is being considered for a two-year contract move to W12. Given that his contract with Belgian club Gent is likely to end, he is available on a free transfer.

Former France Under-21 player Nardi had stints at Lorient, Monaco, and Nancy before joining Gent in 2022.

Begovic left Everton last summer and signed a one-year contract with QPR.

It meant the Bosnian, who played for Chelsea from 2015 to 2017, would be heading back to west London.

He has also had stints at Portsmouth, Stoke, and Bournemouth during his career in England.

Before Joe Walsh was chosen at Coventry in the season’s penultimate game, Begovic was always present for Rangers in the Championship the previous year.

Walsh inked a new deal at the beginning of this month.
