It’s Unstoppable: Celtic make late £5m bid to sign another new player

In an effort to add a number of players before Friday’s deadline, Celtic has now placed a bid for a fresh recruit.

Rumours of a Celtic transfer

The Scottish Premiership season has started off perfectly for Brendan Rodgers’ team, but they have now lost standout midfielder Matt O’Riley, who left the club in record time to join Brighton & Hove Albion. Rodgers has expressed his desire for money to be available for Celtic to reinvest, saying as recently as:

“The bottom line is on the pitch, so we can’t be happy just to make our money and build our pot. That’s the main point. The money is paid by the fans. I remember the Covid era well; the Celtic supporters were barred from entering the stadium after it was sold out.

Thus, it is our responsibility to field the strongest team possible. That is our course of action and our goal. It has taken a little longer than I had hoped. But we’ll be in a really, really strong position if we can improve the squad before Friday.

“From a mental and tactical standpoint, the team is performing well. But we wish to be more robust and profound. As the football manager, it’s taken far longer than I would have preferred. That’s my frank response to that. However, I’ll say it again. There is still a full season ahead of us if we can get them in. Thus, it’s critical that we do understand that. And I think we can pull it off.

In an attempt to fill O’Riley’s vacuum, bids have been made on a variety of players, including Lazio winger Gustav Isaksen, Los Angeles FC midfielder Mateusz Bogusz, and FC Augsburg midfielder Arne Engels.

However, there appears to be no stopping Parkhead’s chief executive Michael Nicholson and the people working behind the scenes, as word has leaked of another bid for a defender.

Celtic offers Auston Trusty £5 million.

Reliable Daily Record reporter Scott Burns reports that Celtic has also made a £5 million approach to capture Sheffield United defender Auston Trusty.

In recent weeks, Trusty—whom George Friend, a former teammate, called “incredible”—has been connected to a move to Parkhead, and the Hoops have finally taken action.

Burns adds that despite Trusty’s 2027 deal, the Blades are unwilling to let him go, but Celtic is pressing for a move for the 26-year-old, who can play left- or centre-back.

Just last year, the USA international moved from Arsenal to Bramall Lane. During that time, he made 34 appearances across all competitions, the bulk of which were in the Premier League. Under Chris Wilder, he has persisted in making appearances this season, although it appears that a move to Scotland may be imminent.
