It’s close’ – Alan Myers shares major Everton transfer development today

Everton and Newcastle are interested in signing players from each other, and a deal is reportedly “near,” as reported by Sky Sports reporter Alan Myers.

On June 22, Keith Downie wrote on X that Newcastle is hoping to close a deal to recruit Dominic Calvert-Lewin, an attacker for Everton. To come to a personal terms agreement with the player and the club, a great deal of effort remains to be done.

The Toffees are trying to sign Yankuba Minteh, a winger for Newcastle, in a different deal. Both agreements would aid the clubs in resolving their own PSR problems.

In response to inquiries on X, Myers stated that, should it occur, the two deals will be distinct.

The Toffees won’t be able to acquire Mentheh for a low price following a strong season with Feyenoord, according to Myers. Additionally, the editor of Sky Sports thinks that both agreements can close before the end of this month.

Myers wrote, “I think it’s close, but I might be wrong.”

Talks for Calvert-Lewin are ongoing, although nothing is close at this time, according to Alex Crook of talkSPORT.

According to The Athletic (June 22), the two sides are hoping to come to an understanding. The Magpies have always admired Calvert-Lewin, who netted eight goals the previous campaign. With just one year remaining on his current contract, Everton values the 27-year-old striker at between £15 and £20 million.

The Toffees are expected to retain the 21-year-old midfielder if Calvert-Lewin by the end of this month, having already turned down a £43 million offer from Manchester United’s Jarrad Branthwaite.

In order to abide by the PSR regulations, Newcastle must also sell players, and they may let Callum Wilson go. Should the 32-year-old striker depart from St. James’ Park, Calvert-Lewin might be a suitable substitute.

Everton cannot rely just on Beto, thus they must identify a reliable alternative in the event that Calvert-Lewin departs the team. They anticipate the club being linked to a number of strikers in the next few days as they seek someone with Premier League calibre.
