Ipswich Town: Loan move for Chelsea’s Armando Broja set to collapse

The Blues had agreed a loan move with a £30 million obligation to buy the Albanian international should they avoid relegation. He travelled to Suffolk before Saturday’s 4-1 defeat to Manchester City, but it’s believed that an issue with his medical saw the deal stall at the last minute.

Manager Kieran McKenna had stressed that negotiations continued with Chelsea earlier in the week, but it’s now understood that Ipswich will walk away from the deal.

Town have been exploring alternatives in the last few days, with Crystal Palace striker Odsonne Édouard among those linked. The Eagles would reportedly let him leave on loan if an obligation to buy him for £20 million is included.

West Brom’s Tom Fellows is another name who’s been linked with a move to Suffolk, with reports that the Baggies have knocked back two bids from Ipswich so far. However, we understand that this is wide of the mark. The young attacker is not a target for McKenna’s side, who have not reached out about signing him this summer.

The Albanian international was to be purchased by the Blues for £30 million if they were to avoid relegation, as part of a loan agreement.Prior to Saturday’s 4-1 loss to Manchester City, he traveled to Suffolk; however, it is thought that a medical concern caused the deal to fall through at the last minute.

Earlier in the week, manager Kieran McKenna had emphasized that talks with Chelsea were ongoing; nevertheless, it is now known that Ipswich will back out of the agreement.

In recent days, Town has been looking into other options; Odsonne Édouard, a striker for Crystal Palace, has been linked. It is stated that the Eagles would let him to go on loan provided they were under a £20 million purchase obligation.

Tom Fellows of West Brom is another name that has been connected to a move to Suffolk; rumour has it that the Baggies have already rejected two approaches from Ipswich. We acknowledge that this is off-target, though. McKenna’s team has not contacted the young attacker about signing him this summer, thus he is not a target.
