‘Immense’ player who’s been linked with Elland Road exit has just put Leeds back in his Instagram bio

Farense’s Mohamed El Bachir Belloumi has been identified by The Whites and is understood to have a £12.6m release clause.

On the outgoing front, the club are now hopeful of no further departures and one player who had been linked with an Elland Road exit has now dropped a subtle hint that he’s staying.

Max Wober has been linked with a return to Borussia Monchengladbach for most of the summer transfer window.

Wober spent last season on loan at the Bundesliga outfit and they were keen to bring him back on a permanent deal.

However, the Austria international has just put Leeds back in his Instagram bio in a subtle hint that he’s staying.

Wober, who’s been labelled ‘immense’ per the Leeds YouTube channel, is yet to start a league game for the Whites this term but did play 63 minutes in the EFL Cup defeat to Middlesbrough.

According to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth, Leeds are hopeful of no more outgoings, so Wilfried Gnonto looks set to remain at Elland Road despite Premier League interest.

Gnonto, who’s already off the mark this season, could be the ticket out of the Championship and many feel he’s good enough to win the division’s Player of the Season.

So, what started as a bleak window is now turning into a fairly decent effort by the 49ers.

It has been a window of change for Leeds so far, with the dual ownership team of 49ers Enterprises and new minority investors Red Bull sanctioning almost £120m of player sales.

That signing follows the permanent arrivals of Joe Rodon, also from Spurs, as well as Largie Ramazani and Jayden Bogle from Almeria and Sheffield United respectively.

Leeds have been somewhat shackled by the EFL’s Profit and Sustainability Rules this summer, which limit clubs to losing a maximum of £41.5m over the current three-year monitoring period.

The owners see themselves as a Premier League giant in waiting and, once they have won promotion to the top flight again, will raise their spending to reflect their ambition.

However, Leeds CEO Angus Kinnear will have been disappointed to hear about a new development that will impact the club financially when they do eventually return to the Premier League.

Former West Ham director Angus Kinnear was named Leeds‘ managing director in 2017, in the early days of Andrea Radrizzani’s ownership.

There have been a number of changes in Leeds’ financial and regulatory environment in that time.

The most seismic, which was later reversed, was the decision of the so-called Big Six clubs to join the European Super League breakaway project.

In the wake of that plot, the idea of an independent regulator for English football with backstop powers to protect the interests of fans and ensure financial stability was floated.

After an official review, a bill for an independent football regulator began to make its way through Parliament.

Kinnear was not a fan – in fact, he went as far as to controversially liken the bill to Maoism, the Marxist-Leninist ideology that led to the deaths of millions in China in the 20th century.

The bill was put on ice after the general election was called earlier this year.

But, as reported by The Athletic‘s Matt Slater, the new Labour government are set to strengthen the powers of the regulator to examine parachute payments.Leeds Utd Football Supporters Flags to buy at flags4sale.com

Parachute payments are currently worth up to £110m over three instalments, with Leeds currently in their second year of payments following relegation at the end of 2022-23.

Given that Leeds are currently in the Championship, a competitive league with no guarantees of promotion, one might think that the West Yorkshire club would want to retain parachute payments.

However, Kinnear and the rest of the hierarchy at Elland Road see Leeds as a sleeping giant and, for those purposes, will side with the Premier League when it comes to financial distribution.

It is not known what approach the independent regulator will take towards parachute payments.

One school of thought argues that huge annual payments to recently relegated clubs are distorting competition in the Championship.

The other side of the debate posits that parachute payments encourage long-term financial stability and eliminate the so-called ‘cliff edge’ between the Premier League and Championship.

Daniel Farke has already welcomed Manor Solomon, Jayden Bogle, Alex Cairns and Largie Ramazani to Elland Road – while Joe Rodon was also signed on a permanent basis after his impressive loan spell last season.

Now, Leeds United are ready to make a sixth signing of the summer…

It has been a busy news day at Elland Road, to say the least.

Just before Leeds United announced the signing of Solomon on loan from Tottenham, a story from the Daily Mail revealed that the Whites are in talks with Fortuna Dusseldorf about a move for Ao Tanaka.

It is said that the Japan international could even fly to Yorkshire tonight to undergo a medical if personal terms are agreed.

Incidentally, Leeds United seem to be speaking to Fortuna Dusseldorf in an attempt to pay a lower fee, as Tanaka actually has a release clause worth just £2.65m written into his contract with the German outfit.

Therefore, Leeds United do not need to agree a fee with the 2.Bundesliga side, as they can go straight into discussions over personal terms with the 25-year-old if a bid of that amount is submitted.

Tanaka – a central midfielder – made 30 appearances for Fortuna Dusseldorf in the 2023/24 campaign, impressively scoring seven goals while also providing four assists.

For those of you who know little about the Fortuna Dusseldorf No.4 and his abilities, a comparison to a more popular player might help.

Interestingly, Tanaka has been compared to Jude Bellingham of all players.

It was actually the Bundesliga’s official website who likened the Leeds United target to the England international, highlighting their ability to make an impact in both boxes, as well as their leadership qualities as comparable traits.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Leeds United could quickly follow the signing of Solomon by bringing Tanaka to Elland Road.

The Whites are on the verge of signing Manor Solomon from Tottenham Hotspur and are still in the market for further reinforcements

Leeds have reportedly agreed personal terms with Gustavo Hamer, though, they still have to reach Sheffield United’s £18m asking price.

Whilst that deal’s worked on, a fresh link to a Premier League midfielder has just come to light.

According to Alan Nixon, Leeds United are interested in doing a deal to sign Bournemouth midfielder Philip Billing.

The Whites face stiff competition from Championship promotion rivals Sheffield United and Burnley, who are both considering moves ahead of Friday’s deadline.

Billing has played just six minutes of football this season and is expected to leave the South Coasters in search of regular starting opportunities.

At this stage, a loan deal appears to be the most likely exit route for the 28-year-old.

Billing, who Pep Guardiola said has ‘huge quality’ per DorsetLive, typically operates in the number eight role.

Though, he can ply his trade as both a number 10 and at the base of midfield as a defensive screener.

The 6ft 6in left-footer has been capped five times by Denmark, so if Leeds were to land his signature, it’d be regarded as a real coup.

The Whites have signed Largie Ramazani and are closing in on a deal for Tottenham Hotspur’s Manor Solomon.

The attacking duo are expected to fill the void left by Crysencio Summerville, who departed for West Ham United earlier this month.

Leeds are also trying to sign Sheffield United’s Gustavo Hamer and it’s claimed personal terms have already been agreed upon on.

Now, a fresh link has just emerged as the West Yorkshire outfit target another attacker.

According to PorThe 2002-born netted seven times whilst laying on four assists in Portugal’s top flight last term and it’s understood Leeds sent scouts to watch him on multiple occasions.

Belloumi, who’s been likened to Riyad Mahrez per Algerie Zoom, was called up to Algeria’s senior squad last year but is still awaiting his first cap.

The Whites certainly have the left-footed wide player on their radar but it’ll be a tough deal to complete with just three days remaining in the window.

Only a couple of weeks ago it all looked very bleak at Leeds having lost a number of their prized assets.

But, the 49ers have led a really strong end to the transfer window and if they can get in a Hamer or Belloumi, it’d be hard to pick against them for the Championship title.

Farke will certainly be under pressure to deliver promotion this season.
