NEIL Harris said it was “really good” to finally see the club’s new signing Mihailo Ivanovic out on the pitch against QPR. The Millwall boss also stressed the player “is here for the long-term”.
“He (Ivanovic) has trained two days in not particularly tough sessions,” Harris said. “It was our time to learn what we want from him.”
“He’s here for the long-term. We just felt that with 15 minutes to go he might go on and something might fall for him on his debut. But it was really good to see him out on the pitch.”
Harris was also pleased with the reaction from the fans when Ivanovic came on to replace Macaulay Langstaff in the second-half at Loftus Road. “I’m really pleased the fans went with him and want to get behind him as a young man forging his way in English football.
“He’s aggressive, he puts himself around. I’ve seen enough already to know that he can be a problem and a goal threat as well.”
However, the Millwall boss stressed that fans must wait a little while before seeing the best from their new Serbian forward. “I look forward to working with him and, as always, people need to be patient with him because he’s only 19 years old.”
