Former Millwall defender pens Bromley contract extension

At Bromley, Byron Webster has inked a new deal.

The former Millwall centre back’s cool-headed penalty in the National League play-off final at Wembley was the catalyst for the Ravens’ first-ever promotion to the English Football League.

The 37-year-old Webster has played for Bromley in more than 150 games and has won the EFL Trophy with Andy Woodman’s team.

When asked if the team is prepared to compete in League Two, Webster responded, “Definitely,” to the team’s internal media outlet. I believe that the chairman sets the tone for the entire club. Every plan is set in motion.

It was scheduled for the beginning of July that Webster became a free agent.

When Webster left Carlisle United in 2020, he informed our paper in May that he was thinking of giving up the game.

“My experience at my prior club wasn’t enjoyable. It wasn’t something I liked; football turned into a job,” he remarked.

“A few years ago, I played alongside Dunny [assistant manager Alan Dunne]. His invitation to visit Bromley rekindled my passion and desire for playing football.

I’ve enjoyed every second of it. Make history is what the gaffer has been preaching about all year.

I’m limited to using my time at Yeovil and Millwall as examples. Even though I was never the best player, those teams constantly welcomed me back and I made history there.

“Now that we are in the annals of history, maybe everything will be the same for all of us boys at Bromley. We will undoubtedly be welcomed back in twenty or thirty years.

A contract extension has also been agreed to by defender Callum Reynolds. Last season, he made 40 appearances for Bromley.
