Fabrizio Romano shares fresh update on Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz swap deal after new contacts today

Following new contacts today, Fabrizio Romano provides an updated report on Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz exchange offer.

The projected transfer of Douglas Luiz, a great player for Aston Villa, to Juventus has been updated by Fabrizio Romano.

Due to issues with Weston McKennie going the opposite way as part of the agreement, Douglas Luiz’s decision to move to Turin is now in doubt.

The Brazilian was supposedly close to signing a player-plus-cash contract with Juventus, with McKennie and Samuel Iling-Junior moving to Aston Villa.

But it looks like McKennie won’t be going to Villa Park unless anything changes.

Weston McKennie might not be included in the Luiz trade.

According to reports earlier this week, McKennie and Villa were unable to come to an understanding about McKennie’s wage demands.

However, Romano asserted that Villa was not the cause of the delay, but rather a disagreement between Juventus and the USMNT international.

According to the transfer insider, McKennie and Juventus have not yet reached a deal over his departure, even after new negotiations today. This might result in the 25-year-old being taken out of the trade agreement.

Romano stated, “After new contacts today, Juve and McKennie still NO agreement on exit conditions.”

“He might not be included in the Douglas Luiz trade; Juventus and Villa are thinking of other options.” Only if AVFC is persuaded by both technical and financial considerations will the swap arrangement move forward.
