EXCLUSIVE NEWS: Swindon Town Open Talks to sign Bournemouth’s Star

Football Insider has been informed by sources that Swindon Town has begun negotiations to sign Gavin Kilkenny, a midfielder for Bournemouth.

The 24-year-old is now willing to let go in pursuit of regular first-team action because he is far down the Vitality Stadium hierarchy.

Swindon has acted swiftly to negotiate conditions in an attempt to outbid several EFL teams for the right to recruit the midfield player on loan for the upcoming campaign.

The League Two team is trying to bolster their midfield after losing George McEachran, who left to sign for Grimsby Town earlier this summer on a free transfer.

Their transfer squad is currently on high alert because of Kilkenny’s availability, and they are working hard to close a deal before the deadline of August 30.

Swindon Town moves swiftly in their pursuit of Gavin Kilkenny of Bournemouth.

At the age of sixteen, Kilkenny relocated to Bournemouth, where he signed his first professional contract in 2018. Despite this, he has only made 25 appearances for the team in the six years thereafter.

In the previous three seasons, he has been sent on three different loans but has not really made an effect.

His stock plummeted following short-term deals with Charlton Athletic and Stoke City, even though he played just 12 games during each stint.

In his most recent move, he went on loan to Fleetwood Town in League One for the second part of last season, where he made 16 appearances but was unable to keep them from going down to League One.

Kilkenny’s influence was insufficient to maintain the Fishermen in the lead; they finished in 22nd place, barely three points below the first survival spot.

Now that clubs throughout the EFL are considering potential loan moves, Bournemouth is eager to see him go once more.

Swindon, who are eager for him to bolster their team, see his League One experience as invaluable.

They have looked to Kilkenny to aid them in their efforts to avoid a relegation struggle this season after finishing 19th their previous outing.
