Ex-Ipswich Town and Peterborough United loanee was adamant on Blackpool return following successful spell away form Middlesbrough

Hayden Coulson says that after his productive loan stint at Bloomfield Road during the second half of the previous season, he was determined to go back to Blackpool.

After rising through the North Yorkshire club’s junior system, the left wing-back left Middlesbrough to join the Seasiders on a three-year contract for an unknown sum, ending his tenure at the Riverside Stadium.

The 26-year-old became a mainstay in Neil Critchley’s starting lineup during his loan stint at Tangerine, making 19 appearances while scoring two goals and dishing out one assist.

“I’m really happy to be back,” Coulson remarked, speaking of his permanent transfer to Blackpool. I knew I wanted to return here permanently after having such a great experience here the previous season. A small amount of steadiness is beneficial.

“The players, staff, and fans have shown me a lot of support, and I want to do everything in my power to return the favour moving forward.”

In addition to acquiring Zac Ashworth from West Brom for an undisclosed cost, the Seasiders have added Coulson, their fourth summer window addition, as their second left-wing recruit.

The former loanee from West Brom and Burton Albion has signed a three-year contract at Bloomfield Road, with a one-year option.

Like Coulson, Jordan Rhodes returned to the Fylde Coast this month after going on a successful loan; Ashley Fletcher is the other new player that Blackpool has added ahead of the 2024–25 season.
