Even though they made good summer hires, Everton is still a long way from where they want to be, as demonstrated on Saturday.

Their inability to start with Michael Keane at center defense, their lack of options at right back, and their disappointing lack of speed on the wings all added up to make them too low grade to really threaten Brighton & Hove Albion.
However, midfield was also a cause for concern, as Idrissa Gana Gueye’s huge mistake on minute 56 gifted the second goal and all but ended their hopes of a comeback, even though Tim Iroegbunam impressed Sean Dyche.
Kevin Thelwell appears to have strolled back into the market to try to find a solution after witnessing that happen.

According to French publication RMC Sport, which describes Everton’s interest in Bundesliga player Éric Junior Dina Ebimbe, that is at least what they are saying.
The Frenchman, who signed permanently in 2023 after making an impression on loan, had a fantastic debut season in Germany after making an impression for Frankfurt last season.
