Alan Myers believes that John Textor is the current frontrunner to take over at Everton despite Dan Friedkin’s reignited interest.
The journalist reported via X on 16 September that while Textor is the favourite, The Friedkin Group have “never gone away” despite pulling out of a deal to buy the club earlier in the year.
Myers also added that Friedkin is “very much” part of the takeover process alongside A-Cap.
Everton need to complete takeover soon as possible
For what seems like the longest time now, Farhad Moshiri has been trying to offload the stake he holds in Everton.
Although there have been many exclusivity periods with different groups such as The Friedkins, something has always seemed to get in the way of getting the deal over the line.
While the Toffees had a fairly strong transfer window with a plethora of talent arriving to bolster their ranks, their performances have been below par.
The club are rock bottom of the Premier League with zero points to their name and will no doubt need further reinforcement in January to help improve their chances of keeping their Premier League status.Sean Dyche’s job is also hanging in the balance [Sky Sports News, 16 September] with changes across the board likely in the coming months.
This further outlines why it would likely be appreciated by the former Burnley manager to know who the Toffees’ new owners could be, especially with Friedkin throwing his hat back into the ring [Bloomberg, 16 September].
There’s still plenty of time for deals to be struck but the sooner Everton’s future is solved, the better it will be for all those involved.
